Objective: To evaluate the multislice computed tomography (MSCT) findings of primary epiploic appendicitis in the light of the current literature.

Materials and methods: MDCT findings of 21 cases examined due to acute abdominal pain and diagnosed as epiploic appendicitis in our department were included in the study.

Results: A total of the 21 cases were consisted of 12 males (57%) and 9 females (43%) . The age interval was between 9 and 89 and the mean age was 43.6. The MSCT evaluation revealed lesion at right by 13, at left by 7 and in the middle at the anterior of the transvers colon by one case.

Conclusion: In this study, primary epiploic appendicitis (PEA) was detected more often in men complaining of abdominal pain and is seen more dominantly in the right quadrant. Abdominal pain was described in the right by 13 and in the left lower quadrant by 8 cases. Blood tests were normal except for some increase of the levels of C-reactive protein. Patients enrolled to follow-up in order to avoid unnecessarry surgery. The majority of patients recovered after appropriate treatment for two to 7 days and 15 days by one case.
