Coronary slow flow phenomenon is defined as a micro vascular disorder characterized by slow filling of the distal vascular structures with opaque medium, which is used for coronary angiography in patients who have normal or near-normal coronary arteries. Coronary slow flow may lead to chest pain during rest or exercise. Although patients with coronary slow flow are usually considered to have a good prognosis, frequent recurrence of symptoms and the fact that these patients are candidates for acute coronary syndrome, impair the quality of life. Despite the presence of an ample amount of studies regarding the phenomenon, there is no consensus on the diagnosis, treatment and clinical importance of coronary slow flow. In this review, we tried to emphasize the clinical importance of the disease together with the diagnosis, etio-pathogenesis and the treatment options.
