In this study, it was aimed to investigate the effects on paraoxonase (PON) and arylesterase (ARE) enzyme activities of malathion applied at different concentrations scaly carps (Cyprinus carpio). For this purpose, 1/2, 1/4 and 1/8 of letal concentraions (LC50) of malathion were exposed to three experimental groups for 21 days. Serum and liver samples on 7, 14 and 21 days were collected from fish in the control group and experimental groups which were exposed to malathion. Changes in the PON and ARE enzyme activities were determined in the serum and liver samples collected from fish. The PON and ARE activities in the serum and liver decreased in the groups exposed to malathion compared to that of the control group (P<0.05). It was found that statistical difference was significant on 7 and 14 days of the study (P<0.05). No significant difference was determined in these activities on 21 day (P>0.05).
