The immune system contains T lymphocytes and their subtypes, which play an important role in providing cellular immunity. They help determining the prognosis of various diseases in both medicine and veterinary medicine. Peripheral circulation levels of T lymphocytes and CD4+/CD8+ ratios have been studied in many diseases. Especially in healthy humans and animals, the CD4+/CD8+ ratio was generally found to be equal to or greater than one (≥1). If this ratio is lower than the specified value, it is considered as an indication that the balance of T lymphocytes in the peripheral circulation of the living thing is disturbed, and that the organism does not give an adequate immune response against the disease. Therefore, the determination of T lymphocyte and its subtypes (CD4+, CD8+) and their ratios to each other (CD4+/CD8+) are important criteria for diagnosis, treatment and even determination of whether various diseases will be cured or not.
