The aim of this retrospective study was to determine viral pathogens of respiratory tract and their antibody profile in patients whose blood samples were analyzed at Firat University Firat Medical Center Immunology Laboratory between January 2005-July 2005. The main agents of viral respiratory tract infections; respiratory synctial virus (RSV), adenovirus, influenza-A and influenza-B and related antibodies IgM and IgG were determined by ELISA. Totally 166 patient’s blood samples (61 female, 75 male and 30 children) were investigated. IgG positivity of all these viruses were determined in all groups as follows: 45 (%74.64) in females, 51 (%68.2) in males and 21 (%70.0) in children, however totally six IgM positivity consisting of four adenovirus IgM in children group, one influenza A IgM in female and one in male group was determined. The remaining patients were found both IgG and IgM negative. According to the analysis of the frequencies of the pathogens, the most common one was found to be adenovirus followed by RSV.
