Turner's syndrome (TS) is one of the common single chromosomal abnormalities in humans. The incidence of TS is variously reported as 1:3000 to 1:10000 of live female births. The nucleus has only 45 chromosomes, which 22 pairs of autosomes plus one instead of two sex chromosomes. İn this syndrome the patients are of short stature though not actual dwarfs, the trunk is muscular, there is short neck caused by cervical vertebral hypoplasia, micrognathia, notable cubitus valgus and poorly developed breasts. The sequelae of TS thus pose a challenge to the anesthesiologist, particularly with airway management. Ventilation by mask and intubation can be difficult due to microcephaly, micrognathia, webbing of neck and shortened tracheal length. Other problems in patients with this syndrome include difficulty in venipuncture, associated cardiovascular anomalies and contraindication to regional blockade, in view of spinal deformities. We report a case of TS associated with congenital hip dislocation which was operated under general anaesthesia and the case was reviewed in the light of literature for current anaesthesia application.
