Objective: The aim of the present study was to evaluate anti-E. granulosus IgG seropositivity in samples sent to the Central Laboratory of Firat University Hospital from various clinics with the suspicion of cystic echinococcosis in 2011.
Materials and Methods: Serum samples from patients with the suspicion of cystic echinococcosis were tested for the presence of anti-E. granulosus IgG antibodies using the IHA method. Results: Of 162 patients (86 (0.53%) were females and 76 (0.47%) were males), 12.9% were seropositive in 1/160 and higher dilutions. The highest rate of seropositivity was observed in males and in the 20-29 age group, and there was no significant difference in terms of gender and age group. Conclusion: In samples sent to the Central Laboratory of Firat University Hospital, in 2011, the highest rate of seropositivity was observed in males and in the 20-29 age group but there was no significant difference in terms of gender and age group. |
