Anti-Müllerian Hormone (AMH) is synthesized by the granulosa cells of healthy growing follicles in females. Blood AMH levels indirectly provide information about the number of morphologically healthy follicles in the ovaries and ovarian reserve. Circulating AMH concentration in female farm animals has been shown to be an important marker that is reliable, easy to evaluate and cost-effective, especially to reveal the reproductive potential of females. While a strong positive relationship was determined between blood AMH level and antral follicle number (AFS), superovulation response, in vitro embryo production (IVEP)- removal of the ovum from its place (OPU) success and phenotypically ovarian size, the level of relationship between AMH and fertility remained weak. AMH studies in female cattle reproduction is a relatively new field. Although the issue of practical applications used for fertility and culling decisions, which are important for herd management strategies, still requires significant research, the use of AMH tests for reproductive development in cattle seems promising. In this review, information about the storage conditions and considerations of blood samples taken for AMH tests (stability studies) and some reproductive parameters associated with the level of circulating AMH in female cattle (antral follicle count, superovulation response and IVEP, fertility, fertile life span and ovarian size) were given.
