The present study was conducted to investigate the contamination of children's parks and playgrounds in Bingol and Elazığ provincial centres with helminth eggs. For this aim, 165 soil samples were collected from 33 parks in both cities between July and September, 2024. The soil samples were subjected to comparative analysis using the Fulleborn flotation and zinc sulphate flotation methods. The Fulleborn flotation method revealed the absence of helminth eggs in the soil samples examined according to park locations. However, the zinc sulphate flotation method identified the presence of helminth eggs in 27.7% (5/18) of the parks in Bingol province and 11.1% (10/90) of the soil samples collected from these parks. In Elazig province, 40% (6/15) of the parks and 17.3% (13/75) of the 75 soil samples obtained from these parks were found to be contaminated with helminth eggs. The presence of Toxocara spp. and Taenia spp. eggs was identified in 90.9% and 9.1% of the soil samples, respectively. These findings indicate that the parks in Bingol and Elazig provinces are contaminated with zoonotic helminth eggs, necessitating the implementation of measures to ensure public health and safety.
