Complications of the Circumcision Performed Within and Outside the Hospital

Circumcision is the oldest and most prevalent surgical procedure. The prevalence of circumcision in Turkey is approximately 99%. Although circumcion has a high risk of complication, it has been performed by anyone devoid of medical training. Aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the most serious complications 704 circumcisions performed between the period of 1998 and 2001within the hospital and 144 circumcions performed outside the hospital. It was observed that most of the complication of circumcision which was performed outside hospital did not observe in the cases circumcised in the hospital. Circumcision should be performed in the hospital by the experienced medical staff.
