In this study, it was aimed to investigate the effect of ankaferd blood stopper (ABS) on stopping the experimentally induced bleeding and tissue healing in rats. As a result of the cutting of the vein, coagulation factors step in, first the cut vein ends shrink, then a clot is formed at the cut vein ends, the clot grows and clogs the vein and thus the bleeding stops. Clotting may be delayed when bleeding is excessive. Therefore, bleeding stopping methods are used to accelerate coagulation. ABS used in the study is a herbal extract that stops bleeding found by Turkish scientists. It is reported that ABS shows its effect by forming a "Protein network" in plasma and serum by blood proteins, especially fibrinogen, and erythrocytes. In this study, 14 female adult Wistar Albino rats were used. The femoral vein in the inner region of the right hind leg of all rats was cut. The rats were divided into two groups with seven rats each. An ABS pad was applied to the first group, and a gauze pad was applied to the other group. It has been observed that the ABS tampon stoped the bleeding in a shorter time compared to the gauze. This situation was statistically significant (P<0.05). The rats were kept under observation for 10 days and tissue healing was examined histopathologically by euthanasia at the end of the tenth day. It was observed that ABS gave more positive results in terms of endothelial integrity and erythrocyte density compared to the control group. Considering these results, it has been seen that ABS has an effective role in stopping bleeding and tissue healing.
