Inflammatory bowel diseases are; group of diseases that include ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. Inflammatory bowel diseases are characterized by a fluctuating and chronic prognosis with severe exacerbation and remission periods. The concept of self-management gains importance in this disease group, which negatively affects the quality of life of patients in all domains. In chronic diseases, patients should take an active role in adapting to their illnesses, obtain the necessary information about their illnesses, and maintain self-management. The self management concept adapted for many chronic diseases is an emerging area for inflammatory bowel disease. The purpose of this review is to examine the interventions that support self-management in patients with inflammatory bowel disease.
