The present study was carried out to determine prevalence of gastro-intestinal system nematodes of cattle in Elazığ Digestive organs of 75 cattle were examined. 49 of 75 (65.34%) were found to be infected with nematodes. Nineteen nematod species were identified in cattle. A total of 6909 nematodes were collected from infected cattle. Average number of parasites for each animal was 141. 1-5 different species of nematodes were detected in cattle. Number of parasites per animal was 1-760.

The nematodes most frequently observed were Ostertagia ostertagi (63.26 %), Cooperia oncophora (32.65 %), Gongylonema pulchrum (20.4 %), O.lyrata (16.32 %), O.circumcincta (10.2 %), Haemonchus contortus (10.2 %) and Trichuris ovis (10.2 %).

The most frequently observed nematode Ostertagia spp., was present in all months, but they reached to the highest numbers during February-March. Cooperia oncophora was absent in December, but was found at low numbers in others months.
