In this study the levels of adrenaline, noradrenalin, and vitamin A and E in plasma in holstein-friesian cows were investigated along their pregnancy by High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC).

The levels of adrenaline, nor adrenalin, and vitamin A and E in plasma of control group nonpregnant cattles were determined to be 4.2 ng/ml, 27.0 ng/ml, 0.24 μg/ml and 2.81 μg/ml, respecitvely. Wehereas at the first months of pregnancy these levels in plasma were found as 13.4 ng/ml, 25.6 ng/ml, 0.27µg/ml and 2.76 µg/ml, respectively. In the further periods of pregnancy of cows the levels adrenaline and noradrenalin were increased but the vitamin levels were observed to gradually decreased. In the last months of pregnancy it was determined that these values were 16.50 ng/ml, 40.13 ng/ml, 0.18 μg/ml and 2.56 µg/ml, respectively. These results show that the levels of adrenaline and noradrenalin significantly increased (P<0.05) while those of vitamin A and E significantly decreased (P<0.05).
