Bovine herpes virus 1 (BHV-1) proteins were studied with two different methods. Initially, in order to analyse BHV-1 proteins by SDS-PAGE, BHV-1 infected MDBK and control MDBK cell lysates were subjected to electrophoresis on 10 % polyacrylamide gel. After staining with Coomassie blue, different proteins were determined in the infected MDBK cells. However, precise analysis of viral proteins could not be carried out.

Infected MDBK and VERO cell proteins, subjected to electrophoresis, were also examined by Western blot using immune rabbit serum. As a result, proteins at the molecular weights of approximately 55 kDa, 75 kDa and 180 kDa were determined to be antigenic proteins of BHV-1.
