This study was carried out to investigate the growth rate, survivability and body measurements of Pure Hair goats and Saanen x Pure Hair goats (F₁) crossbreed kids. Data were obtained from 40 pure and 33 crossbreed (F₁) kids for growth, body measurements and survivability caharacteristis at sukling period and from 14 female kids from each genotypes for these characteristics at weaning period.

The effects of genotype, sex, type of birth, age of dam on growth characteristics and body measurements were analysed by the Least Squares Means Method. Survival rate was tested by Chi Square test. The least squares means for hair goat and crossbred kids were 2.77 and 2.95 kg for birth weight, 16.05 and 14.14 kg (P<0.05) for weaning weight, 0.147 and 0.124 kg (P<0.05) for daily live weight gain, respectively. Survival rates of pure and crossbred kids at weaning were 82.50 and 90.62 %, respectively.

Results of this study indicated that crossbreeding Hair goats with Saanen did not provide a significant advancement in the traits investigated.
