This study was written with the aim of informing about the epileptoid spasm related to oestrosis and coenurosis seen in 115 (65 male, 50 female) Akkaraman flock of sheep 4-5 months year old in an enterprise in the Akçakiraz town of Elazığ.

Clinical examination findings like sneeze, shaking head, imbalance, rubbing the nose to the soil, hitting their nose with their feet and epileptoid spasms were observed. As there were Oestrus ovis larvas in the sneeze, oestrosis was diagnosed. It was stated by the owner of flock that the number of animals with epileptoid spasms were declined significantly after the administration of 2.5 mg/kg dose subcutaneous closentel (Ivopar; Vilsan) twice with 15 day period to the flock. In spite of the administration of medicine, the 6 sheep which didn’t recover and continued to show epileptoid spasms and had growth retardation were brought to the Clinic of Internal medicine of F.Ü Veterinary Faculty. After their clinical examinations were done, necropsy was performed to the most acute one among the animals which show similar symptoms and epileptoid spasm in the clinical examination.

At necropsy, mucoprulent exudate in the nasal cavity, a larva of Oestrus ovis in the left frontal sinus, two coenurus cerebralis sacs at the basal region of the brain, specifically one at the ventral aspect of ciasma opticus and another in the right lobus piriformis, and inflammation at the cortex of the brain were found. No abnormality was detected in the visceral organs during necropsy. Other five cases were slaughtered.
