In this study, the clinical activity of the application of pelvic external fixation in the treatment of Tile type B pelvis fractures was assessed.

Pelvis external fixation was operated on 27 patients with Tile type B pelvis fractures. 6 of the incidents were male and 5 of them were female and the average age was 38 (21-70), and the average follow-up was 27.6 months (15-41). 6 of the incidents were Tile type B1, 16 of them were type B2 and 5 were type B3. Etiology was accident out of vehicle in 11 incidents, accident in vehicle in 14 and falling from a high building in 2 incidents. In the determination of the pelvis fractures, Tile classification was used.

In 8 incidents, there was hymodynamics and multiple trauma as well as pelvis fracture. After making these incidents stable by volume replacement, pelvic external fixation was applied on the third day (2-6) on average for pelvis stabilization. In the incidents with stable hymodynamics this period was 1-2 days (1-3) on average. In 7 incidents, skin-deep nail bottom infection was diagnosed. Five of these incidents were treated with antibiotics and local dressing and 2 were treated with the use of parenteral antibiotics and local dressing. Consequently, in the incidents with rotaional instable, vertical stable pelvis fracture, we believe that pelvis external fixation is a safe and effective treatment method in the treatment of fractures in forward periods and in securing hymodynamics stability in acute period.
