In this study, 552 serum samples collected from cattle which were housed in private herds located
in different regions of Kayseri. Serum samples were tested for presence of antibodies against BHV-
1 using the virus neutralization technique. Out of 552 serum samples tested, 285 (51,63%) were
detected as positive against to BHV-1 and antibody titres were found to be varied between 1/2-
1/64. Among the controlled regions, the highest seroprevalance of BHV-1 infection was found in
Tomarza (80%) followed by Felahiye-Özvatan (71,11%) and Akkışla (54,76%) districts. As a result
the presence of BHV-1 infections in cattle was concerned to be common in Kayseri region.
