Clinic and Histopathologic Correlation in Dermatoses

Histopathologic investigation can help to dermatologists for determination of lesion level, pursuance of lesions and etiologic identification. We aimed to investigate the correlation between clinical presumed diagnosis and histopathologic diagnosis, age and sex of patients. This study was made by examination of pathology registration. Registration of 1047 patients who presented to Dermatology Clinic between January 2000 - April 2007 interval were examined. As a result, most of patients who underwent biopsy were young and adult. Most of dermatoses which were made biopsy were papulosquamous diseases. Most of discord between clinic and histologic were seen in pigmentation disorders. Biopsy results which taken from pathology as insufficient sample, were seen in pigmentation disorder mostly.
