The Investigation of Application Frequency from the Schools to 112 Ambulance Service Within the Province of Mersin City

Objective: This study was performed as a descriptive study in the schools of the province of Mersin Province Ambulance Service in order to determine the frequency of contact.

Material-Method: Retrospectively, this study, February 9 - June 12, 2009 the education period to 24 September 2009 - January 22, 2010 academic term in the Mersin Province Ambulance Service admitted that 36 392 cases from within, in 1051 the school within the applications chosen have been carried out. County Ambulance Service data for 2009 and 2010 have been scanned by the researchers, the percentage of school cases and features were taken. Written consent before the study was taken from the Provincial Health Directorate of Mersin.

Results: Examined on 2.9% among those who requested an ambulance 's school was determined through the application. 69.4% of cases examined reasons for calling the school reputation as the medical and 31.3% of the applicants are psychiatric disorders (conversion disorder, anxiety disorders, etc..) Receives an initial diagnosis, respectively, 62.1% of the patients are transported to the hospital, 37% resulted in interventions at the scene.

Conclusion: In our study, a section of the applications from schools, hospital environment, without requiring medical intervention were found. According to our findings in the case of a health workers' (school health nurse etc.) being in schools, illness and injury rates will decrease, Mersin Provincial Ambulance Service will reduce the workload and economic aspects of this situation is expected to contribute.
