This study was carried out to detect the dimensions and localization as well as arterial and venous
blood flow by using B-mod real-time and doppler ultrasonography in 40 healty Akkaraman sheep
brought to the abattoir. Appearances of parenchyma and blood vessels of the spleen were
examined through the left 9-10th intercostal space by using 8 MHz linear and convex probs. It was
observed that while spleen was in cone-shaped form, when the probe was brought to the ventral,
splenic capsule and paranchyme had an echogenic appearance. Splenic vessels had an ellipticalshaped
and anechoic appearance. The presence of blood flow in the vessels was detected by
doppler ultrasonography.
