Instructions For Authors


1. Fırat University Veterinary Journal of Health Sciences; publishes original clinical and experimental research, case reports, invited reviews and Letters to Editor concerned with all aspects of veterinary sciences.

2. The journal published three times in a year.

3. Firat University Journal of Health Sciences was published as Medical and Veterinary issues with 22 volumes and ISSN 1012-0173 from 1987 to 2008. After January 1,2009, Fırat University Medical Journal of Health Sciences (ISSN 1308-9315) and Fırat University Veterinary Journal of Health Sciences (ISSN 1308-9323) have being continuing their publication procedure as  two separate sub journals

4. Manuscripts submitted to the journal for publication should be original and not been previously published elsewhere (except presented at scientific meetings). They should not be concomitantly submitted to any other journal for evaluation.

5.  All new submissions are scanned for plagiarism in the similarity checking software.

6. For the review of the publications, at least two referees are appointed by the editor(s) according to the content of the studies and the field of expertise of the referees. All referee evaluation reports are sent electronically anonymously. The names of the referees who made the evaluation are not mentioned in the reports and the journal due to the double-blind method. In the last issue of each year, all referees are thanked.

7. Responsibility for all published papers belongs to the authors. All manuscripts are sent to expert reviewers by the Editor and only those that received a high enough priority are published in the journal. No payment is made for publication of manuscripts to the authors. Rejected manuscripts and their attachments are not returned, unless otherwise specified.

8. Manuscripts should be written in Turkish. English manuscripts  will also be accepted. Each manuscript should accompany two abstracts in Turkish and English before the Introduction.

9. A simple, understandable and scientific writing style should be adopted in preparation of manuscripts. Unnecessary repetition should be avoided and abbreviations defined where the first time it appears.

10. The Transfer of Copyright Agreement Form should be signed by all co-authors and provided with the manuscript at the time of submission. If manuscripts are submitted electronically, the original Transfer of original Copyright Agreement Form should be sent to the Editor by regular mail.

11. Ethical responsibility of all research submitted to the journal for publication belongs to the author(s). However, the Editor reserves the right to ask for approval of study by local ethics committee.

12. “Research and Publication Ethics” section should be included under a separate heading in the material and method section. In the "Research and Publication Ethics" section, references should be made to international standards and institutions regarding compliance with the rules of research and publication ethics. In studies requiring ethics committee approval (information about permission (name of the committee, date and number)) should be included in the method section and on the last page of the article.

13. All authors in the article must upload the information of the registration number of ORCID ID (Open Researcher and Contributor Identifier), which is a scientific researcher, to the system during
article submission. ORCID ID registration can be obtained free of charge at http://orcid.org.

14. The author indicated as address for correspondence is responsible for all correspondence regarding the manuscript, all revisions (including names and order of authors) and proof reading of the manuscripts accepted for publication.

15. Electronic submission: Manuscripts can be submitted electronically (for details visit http://veteriner.fusabil.org/index.php3) in order to speed up the reviewing process. In this case, all tables, figures and other attachments should also be provided together with the manuscript. After the manuscript is accepted for publication, original copies of all tables-figures, and a recorded diskette should be sent to the following address. Name of the corresponding author, title of study and the software utilized should be indicated on the diskette.

16. Manuscripts should be typed on one side of standard A4 white paper and double-spaced. At least 2.5 cm space should be left on each margin. Manuscripts should not exceed 16 pages.

17. Manuscripts should be prepared in the following order: (Title page, Abstract, Text, References, Tables and Figures). Tables and Figures should be printed on separate pages.

a. Title page: The title should be succinct, clear, all of letters in capital and informative for gramer. It should include the title only, but not the authors' names and addresses especially electronic submission. This method is intended to help the reviewing process to be done blindly.

b. Abstract: Manuscripts in English should accompany an abstract in Turkish or vice versa. Abstracts should not exceed 250 words and included objective, materials & methods, results and conclusion. It is not necessary to structure the abstracts in case reports and review articles. A list of keywords (3-5) should be provided at the end of abstracts. Key words should be appropriate to “Medical Subject Headings (MESH)” (Look:  http://www.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/MBrowser.html )

c. Text: Research papers should be prepared in the following format: Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion. Case reports should include Introduction, Case Report and Discussion. Section headings should be typed in capital. “Systeme International (SI)” guidelines should be followed for units and prefixes.

d. Acknowledgement:  All financial, technical and intellectual support from institutions and individuals should be “acknowledged”. This section should be placed in between Discussion and References.

e. References should be cited in numerical order in the text, and listed in this order at the end of the paper. They should be shown in brackets in the text. All items in the Reference list should be cited in the text and, conversely, all references cited in the text must be presented in the list. For references with more than six authors, list the first three authors followed by “et al” (In Turkish references “ve ark.”). In references abbreviate names of the journals should be according to Index Veterinarius. It is the responsibility of the author(s) to make sure that cited references do not have any mistakes. Personal views and unpublished work cannot be shown as references.

Internet addresses of non-profit organizations, governments, national and international scientific boards and associations can be cited as reference. Date of web access should be indicated.

f. Table and figures: All drawings, graphs, photographs, micrographs and radiographs should be named as “figures”. All tables and figures should be referred in the text. Tables and figures should be printed on separate pages. Figure legends and table headings should be indicated, double-spaced and abbreviations should be defined. Figures should be prepared in good quality and their size should not be larger than 13x18 cm. Photographs should be included jpeg file in electronic submission, printed in good quality paper. sent in triplicates. Two of them should be properly placed on a paper with the legends and one copy provided as glossy print with the title, figure number and upside indicated at the back. Authors are advised to keep a copy of all illustrations for their records.

18. Proof reading: Proof reading copy of the manuscript will be sent to the corresponding author who should check and return it to the journal within three days of receipt.

19. Reprints: A relevant copy of Fırat University Veterinary Journal of Health Sciences will be sent to the corresponding author for each published paper. Free access to PDF files of all papers will be provided at the journal web site. www.fusabil.org
