The aim of this study was to determine the levels of haptoglobin, ceruloplasmin, albumin, total sialic acid and oxidative stress parameters (total antioxidant and oxidant capacity) in sheep diagnosed with contagious ecthyma. 25 and 15 healthy sheep (1-2 years old, Akkaraman crossbred breed) clinically diagnosed with contagious ecthyma were used according to the symptoms of cauliflower-like proliferative lesions in the mouth, lips and genital area, difficulty in eating, loss of appetite, weight loss and lameness. Blood samples were taken from the jugular vein of all animals included in the study into tubes without anticoagulant. When the healthy group and the infected group were compared, it was determined that haptoglobin, total oxidant capacity (TOC) and oxidative stress index (OSI), ceruloplasmin, total sialic acid levels increased, while total antioxidant capacity (TAC) levels decreased. As a result, it was concluded that haptoglobin, an acute phase proteins, and ceruloplasmin can be used as inflammation markers and antioxidant supplementation may be beneficial to animals due to oxidative stress that occurs in the disease.
