In the present study, intestinal intussusception and its ultrasonographic diagnosis in a dog was presented. Labrador Retriever, 1,5-year-old, a female dog, with a history of anorexia, vomiting and weakness was referred to Firat University Veterinary Teaching Hospital. In clinical examination, values for rectal temperature, pulse and respiratory rate were found 38,9ºC, 120 beats/min and 24 breaths/min, respectively. A cylindric abdominal mass in cranio-caudal respect was detected on abdominal palpation. In ultrasonographic examination, the intussusception was observed with a target-like mass consisting of anechoic center surrounded by hypoechoic and hyperechoic concentric rings in tranverse section. Based on the history and the results of clinical and ultrasonographic examination diagnosis of intussusception was made and the dog was undergone for laparatomy under general anaesthesia. The intussusception was observed after laparatomy. An end-to-end anastomosis was performed after resecting intussusception. A piece of string was determined as the cause of intussusception. The dog became appetent a day after surgery and had a steady improvement during day 5 post operation.

In conclusion, ultrasonography can be a valuable diagnostic tool in dogs especially when a cylindric palpable abdominal mass observes on abdominal palpation.
