This research was carried out to determine the structural conditions of the cattle farms in Malatya, Turkey. The research materials were composed of the data obtained from face to face interviews with 196 breeders which were determined by random sampling method. Results of the data analyzed showed that the ratios of beef, dairy and combined cattle farms were 59.2%, 5.6% and 35.2%, respectively and 39.3% of respondents were 21 years old and older, and 29.6% of respondents were between 16-20 years old, 32.7% of breeders were highschool graduates and 33.7% of them were university graduates, 35.4% of them have received at least one training about breeding, 74.0% respondents had no other income and 76.8% of respondents were satisfied with their jobs. In this study, rate of farms made from bricks was 51.8%, rate of the floor-cemented farms was 97.4%, rate of detached farms was 91.9%, rate of closed-hoop barns was 45.3%, and49.1% of them bred 51+ head cattle. In addition, 24.0% of them produced their feed, 89.2% of them bought their fodder,41.8% of them produced their silage, and 62.4% of them bought their concentrated feed from dealers, rate of barns without pad was 77.3%, animals were provided free access to water in 43.6% of respondents and animals were fed with silage, alfalfa hay and straw by 55.6% of respondents. Moreover, rate of respondents benefiting from the subsides and supports was 47.4%, 78.5% of them were a member of breeding associations, 19.5% of them were insured their animals and 93.7% of respondents were received veterinarian services. It is found out that cattle farms in Malatya are in better condition in many aspects when compared with the other cities in Turkey, however, they have significant shortcomings and drawbacks in the respect of farm structure, functioning, breeders' applications and their preferences. It is believed that this situation which is limited by the general agricultural and livestock policies and the economic situation of the country can be improved by the contribution of both the public and private sector's support and oppurtunuites to the farms. Moreover, it is determined that by training breeders, the problems can be overcome, because there is enough improvement potential in farms in Malatya.
