The present study was carried out to determine the superficial wing muscles in sparrowhawk (Accipiter nisus). In this study, six sparrowhawks were used. First, 5 mg/kg xylazine and then 30 mg/kg ketamine were injected into the muscle of all birds for anesthesia. Then, blood was drained by opening the body cavity and the animals were fixed with formaldehyde. The muscles of wing were separately dissected and photographed. It was detected that the superficial muscles that localized to the dorsal surface of the sparrowhawk wing were m. latissimus dorsi, m. deltoideus major, m. propatagialis, m. scapulotriceps, m. extensor carpi radialis, m. extensor longus alulae, m. extensor longus digiti majoris, m. extensor digitorum communis, and m. extensor carpi ulnaris. It was determined that the superficial muscles that localized to the ventral surface of the sparrowhawk wing were m. biceps brachii, m. humerotriceps, m. brachialis, m. pronator, m. flexor carpi ulnaris, m. interosseus ventralis, and m. flexor alulae. The findings obtained in our study were compared with the ones in other bird species.
