Behavior in Horses and Its Importance for Sporting Horses

Each species has normal and abnormal behaviours of their own species. Horses also have behaviors of their own species. Like humans, horses have spirit and physicial assets, the behaviours of them could be genetical and acquired behaviours. Whereas normal behaviours are defined as horses' common characteristics, abnormal behaviours which are called as psychological faults are determined in some individuals of populations. Some abnormal behaviors involve bad habits and behavioral disordes as naughtiness, aggressiveness, biting, stubborness, and kicking. Undesirable behaviours defined as “faults”, and these faults may prevent the use according to the purposes of the horse. Abnormal behaviors can cause adverse effects on care and management as well as training and race performance. Therefore, in present abnormal behaviors have a great impact on the value of sporting horses. In this review, the information is given about abnormal behaviors that affect the use of sporting horses.
