Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) is a disease that is widely observed in cattle worldwide and causes significant economic losses. There have been a limited number of studies to determine the prevalence of BVDV in Turkey. From different cattle farms around Malatya, a total of 202 calves from different genders and breeds were used in this study. The presence of antibody (Ab) against BVDV in serum was determined by BVDV (Ab)-ELISA and the presence of antigen (Ag) against BVDV by commercial ELISA test kits. In this study, 77.75% of the calves were positive for the antibody. The positivity according to races were 82.53% for Simental, 81.56% for Holstein, and 73.1% for Swiss Brown. The antigen was found negative in all samples. The 202 samples examined for antibody, 157 were positive (77.75%), 35 were negative (17.33%), and 10 were suspected (4.95%). As a result, it was concluded that seropositive animals should be identified and different studies should be conducted for the eradication from the herd.
