Keywords: Halep goat, kid, colostrum, copper, zinc, selenium

This study was carried out to determine the amount of Copper (Cu), Zinc (Zn) and Selenium (Se) elements in Halep goats and kids, which are common in our region, and to determine the effect of the way of birth on the levels of these elements. A total of 40 Aleppo goats were used as normal delivery (group I, n:20) and dystocia (group II, n:20). 5 mL of blood was taken once in 0−4 hours in both groups. 5 ml of colostrum was taken from both groups. All samples stored at −20°C until analysis. Cu, Zn and Se in plasma by plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS); Zn and Se measurements were performed in the colostrum. In the parameters evaluated in both groups; It was observed that there were significant differences in maternal plasma, kid plasma and colostrum and all of the trace elements measured were found to be lower in Group II than in Group I. When the mother plasma parameters are examined; there was a significant difference between groups in terms of Cu, Zn and Se values (P = 0.007, P = 0.023, P = 0.029). When the offspring plasma is examined; there was a difference between the groups in terms of Cu, Zn and Se values (P = 0.001, P = 0.000, P = 0.003). As the colostrum was examined; the difference was significant in terms of Zn and Se values (P = 0.000). As a result, it was determined that there is a decrease in some trace elements in blood and colostrum depending on the birth type of Halep goats; It was concluded that postnatal kid and mothers may be healthier and less kid loss with additional supplements.
