In this study, the antimicrobial susceptibility of coagulase negative Staphylococcus spp. strains isolated from milk samples collected from cows with mastitis in dairy cattle farms in Van province were investigated. Identification of the isolates at the species level was determined by conventional bacteriological methods, and antimicrobial susceptibility was determined by disc diffusion method. In the study, it was determined that the most isolated coagulase-negative staphylococcus (CNS) strain was Staphylococcus vitulinus, followed by S. epidermidis, S. xylosus and S. warneri isolates, respectively. Although the highest rate of penicillin (34.61%) and cefoxitin (20.19%) resistance was found in isolates, all isolates were found to be susceptible to trimethoprim+sulfamethoxazole. Multidrug resistance was found in a limited number (4.81%) in the isolates examined in the study. As a result, it was determined that resistance to beta-lactam group antibiotics was higher in coagulase negative Staphylococcus spp. isolates, which can be found in the natural flora as well as frequently isolated from mastitis cases, compared to other antibiotic groups. It was concluded that the use of beta-lactam group antibiotics should be re-considered in the treatment of infections caused by these bacterial agents.
