This research was carried out to determine the socio-economic status of sheep breeders and the structural characteristics of the farms in Malatya. For this purpose, 192 farms were evaluated by face-to-face survey that was conducted with the owners. It was determined that 63.1% of the breeders were between the ages of 31-50, 70.2% of them graduated from primary school and 76.5% of respondents had 5 or more households. It was also determined that 63.5% of the barns were detached and 30.7% were adjacent to the house, 49.5% were built with an east-west long axis, 86.3% were closed, and 60.9% were designed as "I" shape. In addition, it was determined that 89.6% of the barns had a width of 10.0 m or less, 61.0% had a height of 20.0 m or less, and 53.1% had a height of 2.1-3.0 m. It was observed that, 55.0% of barns had window-ventilation conditions, 71.3% had ventilation shafts. According the study 92.0% of pens had 1 m2 or less area in their resting places and 41.4% of them had a promenade area of 2 m2 or less for per sheep without lamb. Additionally, there were no foot washing pools and baths (92.1%), veterinary services were not used on regular basis except for situations where diseases cannot be overcame (83.3%), vaccination programs are followed at a very high rate (95.5%), and mandatory vaccines most (97.7%). The most important problems that the breeders wanted to be solved were the pasture problem (68.7%) and the obtaining appropriate breeding sheep (16.2%). It had been concluded that the problems can be solved over time, to a large extent, by conducting more and more training activities for breeders.
