Macro-Anatomical Investigations on the Skeletons of Badger (Meles meles) II. Ossa Membri Pelvini

The aim of this study was to investigate the bones of the pelvic limb of the badger (Meles meles). For this purpose, a total of 4 adult badgers (3 males, 1 female) were used.

Ossa coxae were parallel to each other, foramen obturatum was very large, and tuber ischiadicum had two prominences. There was a shallow fossa on its auricular face.

Trochanter tertius was absent. Arciform grooves of the cochlea tibiae were oblique, and there were proximally and distally joint conformations between tibia and fibula.

Caput tali was distally enlarged, and collum tali was very developed. The distal row of tarsus was consisted of four bones.

Each tarsal bone was considerably flat in both sides at its proximal half, and was round at its distal half.

In conclusion; It was determined which pelvic limb bones of badger was seen someness carnivores and domestic dog.
