In this study, the effect of diphenylhydantoin in the healing of open-wound in the 20 New Zeland rabbits which have been infected experimentally, and 42 various species which show normal clinical symptoms.

In the clinical study, decubitus ulcus, open-wounds and abscess in the 42 various species were treated with local diphenylhydantoin. In the bacteriologic culture which have been done in the beginings of the treatment, 34 animal showed positive result, on day 5 of treatment 3 animal showed positive result. In the 10th day of treatment, all animal had negative result. In the treatment of decubitus ulcus and open-wounds, important difference were observed in the healing of the symptoms 5th of 10th days of treatment. Similar results were seen in the healing of the abscess on day 7 and 14 of the treatment (p<0.05).

In the experimental study, 20 New Zeland rabbits were used. These rabbits were divided into the two groubs, and in the size of 5 x 3 cm. open-wounds were formated in the back of each rabbits. After each wound were enfected with Staph. aureus one group was treated with local diphenylhydantoin, the other group was not. (It accepted as a control group). In the begining of treatment there was no clear difference in each group with respect to the type of lesions, size and bacterial contamination of wounds. In the group which has been treated with diphenylhydantoin wound healing was seen rapidly and there was big difference in the healing of the wounds between the 5th and 10th days of treatment, in compare to control group (p<0.001).
