Peste des petits ruminants (PPR) is an acute viral disease of sheep and goats characterised by fever, oculonasal discharges, stomatitis, pneumonia and diarrhoea. The first description of disease was in Cote d’Ivoire and then PPR was seen in Africa, Arabian Peninsula, Middle East and India. Main pathological findings are ulserative and necrotic stomatitis, bronchopneumonia, atalectasia, consolidation and hepatisation of lungs and haemorrhagic enteritis of large intestines.
