In this study, foot diseases and hoof deformations in 3600 cattle in and around Elazığ were investigated. There were only digital deformities in the 220 claws and only foot diseases in 37 claws. However, foot disease with digital deformities was seen in 360 cattle.

Digital deformites and diseases were found totally 580 claws (at the front 81 and hind 499, in lateral 338, medial 135, bilateral 107). Classification of the deformities and diseases as follows: Overgrown claw in 187 (%32.2), blunt claw in 63 (%10.8), splay claw in 67 (%11.5), scissor claw 76 (%13.1), splay claw 89 (%15.3), corkscrew claw 98 (%16.8). As a conclusion, this study has shown that there was an important role of the digital deformites and hoof care in the etiology of digital diseases.

Dermatitis interdigitalis in 31 (%7.8), erosio ungulae in 38 (%9.5), heel abscess in 19 (%4.7), limax in 28 (%7.0), interdigital necrobasillosis in 47 (%11.8), pododermatitis aseptica diffusa in 41 (%10.3), pododermatitis circumscripta in 29 (%7.3), pododermatitis septica in 24 (%6.0), fissura ungulae in 28 (%7.0), podoartritis ptulenta in 27 (%6.8), bruised sole and bulb in 29 (%7.3), traumatic wall ulcer in 12 (%3), white line disease in 23 (%5.7), dermatitis digitalis in 21 (%5.2) were diagnosed.

As a result, incidence of foot diseases in cattle in and around Elazığ were determined as %17.1.
