In this study, meats of 9 poultry species (chicken, turkey, gull, ostrich, duck, goose, quail, partridge, and crow) were identified by random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) method using 12 different

10 bp-nucleotide primers with guanine and cytosine (GC) contents, ranging from 50-80%. In general, the species were differentiated by comparing RAPD fingerprinting of the species.

However, some primers used were not suitable for identification of poultry meats while the some primers were suitable. Therefore, the results indicated that identification of poultry meat species by RAPD technique requires use of suitable primers.
