Clinical Evaluation of Sheep Foot Diseases Observed in Elazığ Region

The aim of this study was to determine the sheep foot diseases in Elazığ region. Total of 6748 animals consisted of 6103 (90.44%) sheep and 645 (9.56%) rams have been examined. Sheep farmings have been examined at the end of fold and pasture seasons twice.

That the conditions of farmings are not convenient to grow sheep have been observed. It has been noticed that, sheep owners didn’t pay attention enough to foot diseases.

1367 foot lesions have been observed out of 6748 (20.26%) sheep examined. At the end of the fold season the 79.08% of lesions and of the pasture season 20.92% of lesions have been examined. Total lesions which are 31.52% in front feet and 68.48% in back feet have been examined. These lesions are 60.35% deformed claws, 18.95% foot-rot, 10.02% sinusitis interdigitalis, 4.10% fractured, broken claws and 1.68% other foot diseases.
