This study was carried out to determine the effects of selecting process by candling on hatchability results in hatching eggs which had different breeder age (41 and 60 week) and oviposition period (morning and afternoon). A total of 1200 and 3150 eggs were used for breeder age and oviposition period parameters, respectively. To determine the effects of selecting process on hatchability results, all the eggs were separated into two groups randomly at 18th day of the study. In the selected group, eggs were candled in a darkened room, infertile eggs and embryonic mortalities were removed and the rest of the eggs were put in the setter department. In the other group, no selecting process was done, eggs were sent to the setter department directly. Data were analysed by two-way analysis of variance (Two-Way ANOVA). Related to higher breeder age, embryonic mortality rates and cull chicks rate were increased and fertility rate, hatchability rate and hatchability of fertile eggs rate were decreased. At the eggs which had differnt breeder age, the selecting process reduced late embryonic mortality rate and cull chicks rate. This treatment increased the hatchability rate and hatchability of fertile eggs rate, significantly. A significant interaction of breeder age x selecting process for late embryonic mortality, fertile hatchability and cull chicks rate was found. At the eggs which had different oviposition period, selecting process did not affect hatchability results.

The results of the study show that related to higher breeder age, hatchability characteristics of eggs deteriorated and in these eggs, selecting process affected hatchability results positively.
