Prevalance of Eye Diseases in the Sheep and Goats in Siirt and its Surrounding Region

In this study, it was aimed to investigate the prevalence of eye diseases in sheep and goats in Siirt and its surrounding region. 15.863 sheep and 15.021 goats were used in the study. 12 different eye diseases in 228 sheep and 7 different eye diseases in 48 goats were detected.

57 (24.99%) corneal diseases, 41 (17.98%) scleritis, 38 (16.66%) epiphora, 26 (11.46%) eyelid problems, 19 (8.33%) infectious keratoconjunctivitis (IKC), 18 (7.89%) leukoma, 12 (5.26%) microftalmi, 6 (2.63%) amaourosis, 4 (1.75%) trikofitozis, 4 (1.75%) anemia, 2 (0.87%) chemosis and 1 (0.43%) pterygium were observed in sheep.

12 (24.99%) corneal diseases, 11 (22.91%) scleritis, 8 (16.66%) eyelid problems, 6 (12.5%) IKC, 6 (12.5%) microphthalmus, 4 (8.33%) fungi and 1 (2.11%) anemia were detected in goats.

As a result, it was determined that eye diseases in sheep and goats are common in Siirt and its region.
