Neonatal calf diarrhea is one of the most important health problems in many countries of the world where cattle breeding is carried out. Studies show that bovine rotavirus (BRV) and bovine coronavirus (BCoV) are the two most critical viral agents that have been predominant in neonatal calf diarrhea so far in Türkiye. Here, we aimed to determine the prevalence of BRV and BCoV in fecal samples of calves (1-28 days old) with diarrhea signs from the provinces of Elazığ, Malatya, and Diyarbakır and to evaluate the prevention control programs for these viruses. For this purpose, fecal samples of 74 calves from the provinces of Elazig (n: 36), Diyarbakir (n: 10), and Malatya (n: 28) were included in the study. According to Real Time RT-PCR (rRT-PCR) results, 18/74 (24.3%) of the clinical samples were BRV positive, 10/74 (13.5%) were BCoV positive and 7/74 (9.5%) were both BRV and BCoV were positive. The number of studies on this subject in Elazığ and its surrounding provinces is quite limited, and the data obtained are important in terms of the epidemiology of both viruses and taking protective measures in the region.
