This study was carried out on herd of 250 heads consisting of sheep and goats which are infested with Rhipicephalus and Hyalomma ticks. Animals were allocated to 2 groups (treatment and control) and each group consisted of 30 sheep and 10 goats. Tick population was almost equal in animals of both groups. 1 % flumethrin (Flutick® P.O.) pour-on was applied through the backline of the animals in the treatment group. Live tick counts were determined to assessment hours and days in the animals of treatment and control group. 21 live ticks in first day and 36 live ticks in 28th day were encountered in the animals of treatment group. Live tick counts increased in first day and decreased in other days in control group.

Besides, male and female ticks were exposed to %1 flumethrin for 1 minute in laboratory. Most of the ticks dead by the end of first and second hour. No live ticks were seen at the end of fourth hour. It was also seen that the female ticks were more resistant to the treatment.

As a result, no adverse reactions were observed during and after the treatment. Treatment rate was 93,5 % in first day and was 100 % in seventh day and provides protection against ticks until 28 days.
