Sivas İlindeki Köpeklerde Cryptosporidium Spp.’nin Prevalansı

Species of Cryptosporidium is a zoonotic protozoan that affects both people and animals' gastrointestinal tracts and causes illness. In this study, Cryptosporidium spp. was performed to determine its prevalence in which Sivas. The study included 100 dogs of various breeds, ages, and genders as its subject matter. The study's included dogs' assessments of their hunger, body temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, respiratory type, capillary filling time, rate of dehydration, mucosal examination, and mental status revealed no abnormalities. Animal feces were collected and stored in plastic containers. Oocysts were found using direct inspection, acid-fast staining, and the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method. In the studied stool samples, the positive rate was 0% for direct examination, 2% for acid-fast staining, and 4% for the PCR test. In this study, Cryptosporidium spp. The positive rate was 0% for dogs brought to the veterinary clinic for control and 8% for dogs from shelters. In addition, shelter dogs under 1 year, 1 to 5 years, and over 6 years old, respectively, had positive rates of 13.3%, 5.8%, and 5.5%.
